Track quarterly payroll tax reporting
This board is great for any firm with payroll services, no matter the team size. Before, we had a shared Google Sheet with all clients listed in a column and each type of payroll tax return listed across the top row. We would go into the spreadsheet and enter an "X" in each appropriate cell when the return was complete or make text notes for those who didn't need a specific tax paid/reported for whatever that reason may be. Of course we have far more than the 6 clients listed in the template so this allows us to very easily track and monitor the progress of our quarterly tax reporting. It has made the process much more efficient. It also allows us to add the actual tax returns as attachments for quick and easy access or review.
Getting started tips
- Enter client names for each row.
- Enter tax types for each column. You may also want to add an owner column to share responsibility and show ownership across you team and/or a date column to track deadlines. With clients across multiple states, it may be helpful to add a status column to represent which state each client must file reports in.
- Use different colors to track progress and/or labels to show state of filing and exemptions.
"This template increases efficiency in quarterly tax reporting processes. "
Why we love this template
This board substantially increases my efficiency in this specific process but it's really the collection of all my payroll-related Monday boards that have drastically changed my work life. I can store every single piece of information about each of my clients in focused boards that allow for increased productivity and organization. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that not any one task that I am responsible for will fall through the cracks and that's very important to me. I also know that when the time comes for me to move on from this specific job, that the lucky new employee taking my spot will have an extremely smooth transition into the job.
Without this template I would
... lose efficiency in this process that plays such an important and substantial role in the scope of my duties. Quarter-end (especially Q4) can be an extremely stressful time of year so it's important to make those quarter-end processes as streamlined as possible.
